Warm Bassy Plucks

The Gimbri is a three-stringed skin-covered bass that originated in Morocco. It is actually a lute that produces rich deep but also somewhat harsh and earthy tones through its wooden body and goat gut strings. Often compared to a bass guitar, the gimbri brings deepness into the music with its low dynamic range. The main focus was to capture different articulations of the Gimbri while keeping its organic feeling and warm sound. Traditionally played with the fingers, we recorded it muted, with a plec and through an amp to ensure a wide variety of tones. It comes with five presets, while the possibility of custom settings is kept open.

Session Drums Club is a multisampled library of world-class acoustic drums recorded with plenty of natural room ambience to impart realistic depth and an organic vibe in the rhythm department. The 4.5 GB of sampled drums in this Pack are divided up into eight Standard Drum Racks and eight MPE Drum Racks. Each Rack represents a complete kit captured in a great-sounding acoustic space, reminiscent of classic recordings of the past. The individual Drum Hits include kicks of various sizes played with felt or plastic beaters as well as snares, sidesticks, rim shots and toms. The ride, crash, splash and china cymbals as well as the hi hats come in a variety of sizes and articulations played via the pedal and tip or shank of the stick. Tambourine and cowbell samples are also included. The kits load as Drum Racks with eight Macro Controls for tuning, envelope and EQ for each individual Drum Hit. Each drum in the Drum Rack also has its own channel and can therefore have its own effects and routing. The MPE Kits are designed specifically to play well on MPE-enabled controllers like the new Push, where users can add extra depth and control by varying their finger position and pressure during performance.

Something about the Playing Mode feature: When we were working on My Vibes we realized that a real vibraphone just doesn’t play as a piano keyboard. When the pedal is up the notes are short, when the pedal is down the notes are long. There’s no way to keep a single note long and the others short, like in a piano. In My Vibes you have this additional feature. In real mode My Vibes reacts like a real vibraphone, while in piano-like mode you can play the vibraphone like a piano. To keep notes long you don’t have to keep the pedal down, you just need to keep the keys pressed.
