This instrument is based on ordinary and (as usual with Atom Hub items) old harmonica tuned in D. The instrument has been sampled with intention of providing organic, non-perfect, breathy, shaky, metallic sounds rather than a virtual incarnation of a nice romantic harmonica tone. Anyway, those are also possible to get from some of the sample sets present in the pack. In case you are hoping for something your current harmonica library (if any) is not capable of, or you just share strange obsession in quirky experimental instruments with me, Harmogeddon belongs in your hands !

Microrgan is a vintage 49-key electric reed organ built in the 1950s by the Italian electronics company Farfisa. Rare and highly sought-after, the origins of this classic instrument are shrouded in mystery and our particular keyboard has seen more than its fair share of wear and tear over the years, although it still sounds good as new thanks to its rugged mechanics and simple design. We’ve captured it’s warm, humble and yet full-bodied tone with infinite sustains and tight staccatos. The Balalaika is a small string instrument which most likely originates from central Asian lute instruments but is nowadays most closely associated with eastern european, especially Russian music. First mentioned in the 17th Century, it was primarily used for village and folk music whereas the Balalaika also starts to take part in concert performances since the 19th Century. This even lead to the forming of Balalaika orchestras. Additionally the Balalaika acquired its iconic triangular shape in that time. The Balalaika we have recorded is a three-stringed prima Balalaika which has a typical E-E-A tuning.

Welcome to Bowed Grand Piano – a library decided to deep sampling of bowed and FX based grand piano strings. The bowing of a piano is a delicate effort, since the instrument is not designed to be bowed. We developed a variety of new recording techniques that allowed us to get deep inside the piano and record a variety of bowings and FX that haven’t been covered in previous libraries. The library is more ambient then oue Plucked Grand Piano, since the concept of bowed piano tends to go in the more ambient/drony direction. We bowed every single string on a world class grand, including both sustains and staccato notes.
