‘World Series: Kaval Flute’ is the continuation of this series of products that feature traditional folklore compositions from all over the world, performed using rare and unique instruments. This pack contains high quality recordings of the Kaval Flute, suitable for any film, advertisement and music production. These traditional Kaval Flute compositions were played by a professional flute player, using the highest quality hand-crafted instrument and recorded using Schoeps CMC 6 phantom powered amplifier and Colette Modular Capsule. The Kaval Flute is a chromatic end-blown wooden pipe, primarily associated with mountain shepherds throughout the Balkans and Anatolia. Traditionally played throughout Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, northern Greece and Turkey, this instrument comprises three parts.  The uppermost part of the Kaval has no finger holes. There is a special ring made either of antler or of bull horn, which is fitted there and from where the sound itself is produced. The middle part has eight apertures, seven on the front part and one on the back. Musicians use only these eight holes. The third part has only four holes. The uppermost hole sets the basic tone and the remaining three are resonant. What’s in the series?

You get all six of the DruMM modules and each module carries all the primary drum samples you would expect: kicks, snares, claps and hi hats and every octave has 2 kicks, 2 snares, 3 hi hats and one clap assigned to it along with the additional samples. This allows for each octave to carry a separate drum kit, so that means you get 5 individual mini drum kits per module plus all the other samples spanned and ready to ‘hit’. These modules can then be layered to create seriously vast and expressive drums. Each and every DruMM module has been produced with specific M/S and phase cancellation processes to ensure that there are no frequency clashes, summing and cancelation when used for layering purposes. The whole purpose of DruMM is to afford you the freedom and scope to maul any sound in any way you see fit. For this reason alone we have developed the tools that any drum and beat producer will want at their fingertips.

The Vienna Concert Guitar is the only one of its kind. This hand-made instrument was specially constructed with an arched back put together from several pieces of wood. Its balanced, homogeneous sound allows it to stand its ground as a solo instrument as well as in accompaniment. Due to its polyphonic nature, the concert guitar presented a special challenge. Specifically, chords only sounded authentic when the chords themselves were sampled! After a three year production cycle for the orchestral sample libraries, the Vienna Symphonic Library team felt ready to take up this challenge, capturing all of the concert guitar’s versatility and its many playing techniques.The samples were “tamed” and made reproducible with the help of the Vienna Symphonic Librarys unique Performance Tool. The Vienna Concert Guitar became a reality through a combination of individual prerequisites: The project’s godfather, Thomas Meitz, in the framework of his concert guitar diploma, spent 1 1/2 years on developing the Library’s structure. Due to his practical background as a recording engineer and chief editing engineer of the Vienna Symphonic Library, he was able to realize his concept optimally and without compromise.
